At international book fairs, it is a great joy for publishers to see the people visiting their stands browse the pages of their books in a serious, attentive and inquiring manner. You may ask yourself: Isn't this how it’s supposed to be? Well, it is not. In our fast food, fast fuck and generally fast paced era, for most people reading is no longer a lonely intellectual activity that brings fulfillment and self-knowledge, but a boring page flipping similar to channel switching. There are, after all, countless of titles responding particularly to this need of an easy “lazy” reading. Thus, several “hair salon books” have sprung, as even once serious writers were lured into this trap aspiring to reach a greater audience and increase their sales… As you should know by now, Topos books are not targeted to easy readers. Therefore, at international book fairs, like the one that took place recently at Thessaloniki, it is with great joy that we see people of all ages visit our stand and seek to find out more about our books, our authors, our subjects of interest…
