Yannis Palavos was born in Northern Greece in 1980. He studied Journalism at Aristotle University, Thessaloniki, and Cultural Management at Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences, Athens.
In 2005 he won the short story competition for young writers held by the Athens British Council. In 2007 he published the short story collection
True Love and Other Stories, which was shortlisted for the
Diavazo prize for a new writer.
In spring 2007 he wrote the script for the short film “The wall” (dir. Chloe Mantzari), which was screened at the Cannes Film Festival (2008) as part of at the “Short Film Corner” section.
In December 2007 he won the first prize at the short story competition held by Metaichmio publications and the newspaper
Arta Press.
Palavos’s short stories have appeared in various Greek literary journals, newspapers and online magazines, as well as in the collective volume
Tales from the city, stories from the sea (“Periplous” Editions, 2006).
